Үүнтэй холбогдуулан Дэлхийн байгаль хамгаалах сан (WWF)-гийн Монгол дахь хөтөлбөрийн газар цоохор ирвэсийг сурталчлан таниулах, хамгаалахын ач холбогдлыг олон нийтэд хүргэх зорилготой “Цоохор ирвэс хамгаалах олон улсын өдөр”-ийн үйл ажиллагааг энэ сарын 18-нд Улаанбаатар цэцэрлэгт хүрээлэнд тэмдэглэнэ.
Цоохор ирвэс дэлхийн 12 улсад байдаг. Эдгээр улсуудаас Монгол орон ирвэсийнхээ тоо толгойг олон улсад хүлээн зөвшөөрөгдсөн аргаар судалгаа хийсэн билээ. Судалгаагаар Монгол улсад дунджаар 953 нас бие гүйцсэн ирвэс Монгол Алтай, Говь Алтай, Хангай, Соёны нуруудыг дамнан ойролцоогоор 328,000 км квадрат газар нутагт тархан амьдарч байна.
